About Code.org Regional Partners:

TCNJ is a Code.org Regional Partner offering Code.org Professional Learning Programs for the state of New Jersey. TCNJ has joined a nationwide network of Regional Partners to support efforts to expand access to computer science in K-12 schools. We will provide quality professional development to educators in our area through local district partnerships and by building a positive local computer science educator community.

About computer science: 

Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science.

Computer science teaches students foundational 21st-century knowledge such as what algorithms are, how to analyze big data, how to make an app or program, and how the internet works, in addition to coding — skills that will open doors in  every field, in every state.

Computer science is about logic, problem solving, collaboration and creativity. Students gain an opportunity to take part in creating technology that will solve problems in their communities and in the world.

9 in 10 parents want their child to study computer science, but only 1 in 4 schools teach computer programming.

Computer Science Discoveries (CSD)

Computer Science Discoveries is an introductory computer science course that empowers students to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. The CS Discoveries curriculum was built for students in grades 7-9, so teachers can implement in either middle school or high school classrooms.

AP Computer Science Principles (CSP)

Code.org’s Computer Science Principles (CSP) is an introductory Advanced Placement (AP®) course designed to broaden participation in computer science. Code.org is recognized by the College Board as an endorsed provider of AP® CSP curriculum and professional development. The course has been reviewed by the College Board and is pre-approved to pass the course audit process. Our endorsed professional development is held to (and goes beyond) the standards of AP® Summer Institutes.

Computer Science A (CSA)

Computer Science A is an intermediate computer science course for students in Grades 9-12 that teaches Java programming with a modern approach to support all learners. Introduce students to software engineering and object-oriented design while they learn the Java programming language in this free curriculum for AP® Computer Science A (AP® CSA). This is mapped to the College Board Course and Exam Description for AP® CSA.
